Template Trim Bit?

About to start cutting our lexan CP cover...but a little confused.

We're gonna drill our holes and all that on the MDF...and then use it as a template for cutting the lexan with a router. I've read about needed a "template bit," but not sure what this is. I've got a plain old straight cut bit (1/4") for routing out the joysticks, can I use this to cut the plexi? The idea is you get a bearing that rests on the already cut MDF to guide it thorough the lexan below right?

Anyone got some good pictures or links to purchase stuff? Thanks guys.

You need a flush trim bit.  It's what you described, a straight bit with a bearing, although you might have better luck with a straight bit that has the bearing up top, so that you can use the bit to cut through the material, otherwise you'll have to drill pilot holes in the plexi first.

Oscar does all his panels with the router.  I generally use the drill press.  His way is faster, but much more mess.
