« on: October 08, 2004, 02:11:18 pm »
]this pcb claims to be a go between for any console and a jamma cabinet.
if its what it claims to be i think im going to have to pick this little baby up.
i was curious if anyone else here had seen or perhaps had some experience with this item.

take a look at the gamecube pic above..
make more sense?
your using a standard arcade control panel and monitro to control and display the console functions.
it even emulates coin insertions.

What's with the old and dingy yellow wire in the game cube picture?  yuck...

Sounds like a cool board to setup a nice console/arcade game :-)

That's not "old and dingy" yellow wire, it's that kind of wire that's clear/colored, with meshed metal wire shielding on the inside. If you saw it in person, you'd probably think it's cooler than regular black rubber wiring.

So how do they handle the fact that most games need analog joys?

By the way, remember folks that you have to factor in the cost of a COMPONENT cable for each console, if you don't already have one.
NO MORE!!

got this reply on my thread on the shmups forum

All I can say by now is that I am very pissed. I bought it because I wanted an easy solution to hook up my DC.

Well, plugged it in and it does not recognize the arcade panel as controllers. This may be fixed but TECH@excellentcom.net did not reply to my mails yet (approx. 2 weeks). The second thing you should aware of is: It is NOT JAMMA. All six buttons are on the JAMMA edge! What the reason for this sh*t? Why can't they add a kiick harness to the board so the edge remains JAMMA compatible and I can plug it straight into my Cab.

Sad thing is that the only game(s) I bought it for are SFA3 and Zero Gunner II. . This is the last time for me buying such a thing. Too much time is wasted with them.

This looks alot like the MGCD system. They make separate MGCD's for each console though.

And that's the real question isn't it? I'd guess that this thing only controls via the Dpad and ignores the analog sticks, which makes it pretty much worthless on modern systems.

I have tried every unit when I was in Korea.  They have been around since PS1.  They work EXCELLENT. They were made and intended for the coin-op market.  Like RayB said they are extremely ilegal.  For coin-op use they do work on a time limit.  At least the one's I tried.  The game publishers would never agree to this for any amount of money.

Be careful before you buy and always check out the source.
