Star Wars / Road Blasters Yoke
« on: September 11, 2002, 06:08:04 pm »
If I remeber right, the Star Wars yoke and the Road Blaster's yoke is mechanically identical, isn't it?  I mean, would it really matter if you had either one on your cab?  :-\  Also, did Road Blasters ever use the "Y" on the steering wheel?  I mean, "X" turned it, but I don't remember using the "Y" for anything.  According to Klov it does, maybe I just didn't get far enough.  :P

Thanks.  Brian

I don't remember there even being a 'Y' axis on the Roadblasters machine/yoke.  It steered, and had trigger & thumb buttons but I don't recall anything else.

I was quite young at the time tho so I could be wrong  :)

Road Blasters used an optical mechanical (mouse type) sensor, while Star Wars used POTs (analog joystick type), and mame emulates it like that (RB uses a DIAL, SW uses a AD_STICK)   Also, RB didn't use the Y axis, unless someone hacked it to take the place of the foot pedal.

Shape-wise, I think they are the same.
