Advice on my new cab purchase please
« on: October 07, 2004, 02:37:38 am »
Ok so I just got the bargain of the century. Low boy cab in mint condition with 26" monitor, 2 control panels fully working with just one blown component on the monitor board which I should be able to fix no problem.
The game was advertised as having some tennis game and Fatal Fury included but surprise surprise when I look inside the machine it has a standrad jamma PCB I assume for the tennis game plus a 1 slot neogeo PCB with a fatal fury cartridge.
My question is can you just switch really simply between jamma and neogeo cart? Is it the same connection?
Thankyou.
By the way I paid $130NZ which is about $80US! Score!

I believe that the Neo Geo system is JAMMA, so you should be able to simply move the harness and use either the Tennis game or the Neo Geo system... I think.

A Neo Geo one slot is standard Jamma plus 2 buttons (the D button for each player) so I would guess that your cab is wired for the fourth button and you will be good to go... That is a steal you got!  :D  If the board was more than one slot it would have one more extra non standard jamma button for the game select button.

Niice.  I've been looking around and I think MVS boards are JAMMA, but I think there's a slight difference.  I noticed on Bobs site that he sells a seperate JAMMA harness for Neo-Geo.  It's probably like APFelon already said.  If it's already in the cab it's probably already to go for it.  Good find.  I haven't seen a MVS board go on eBay for less than you got the whole package for.  :D

Thanks for your replies folks. Looks like the NeoGeo is just Jamma I unplugged the PCB for the tennis game and the connection matched the connector on the NeoGeo PCB perfectly.
Looks like the CP is wired up for 3 buttons which I guess is standard Jamma, any info on how to wire up the 4th NeoGeo button. Where should I start? Any good sites for this?
What I want to do is replace the existing CP with a 2 joystick, 4 buttons each NeoGeo set up so I can buy NeoGeo carts and PCB's. I'll have my Mame cab and my "proper" cab.
Cheers
