card reader for arcade cabinet

Has anyone ever thought about installing a card reader on a MAME cabinet. like the ones Dave & Busters use? It seems simple to use once you got it set up. I wonder how much those readers cost.
Thanks,

the card readers are also networked somehow to a server that keeps track of value on your card and whatnot.  sound like more work than its worth
