Nintendo VS Cabinet Question
« on: October 02, 2004, 06:05:43 am »
I am looking at a Nintendo VS Super Mario Bros Cabinet.  It is in fairly complete shape.  Maybe an 8 out of 10 overall.  What might this cabinet be worth?  From what I have been told it needs new side art, the coin mechs are not hooked up and the service switch is gone. It is just wired into free play mode. He said it plays great and the monitor has just a slight amount of burn-in.

I know the VS series can be changed to other games, how hard is that to do?  Where can i find out more about these arcades?

Are there any other arcade forums on the internet that are worth checking out?

Thanks for all the help
Josh

The best source of info I found for dedicated machines is on Usenet newgroups, not a web forum. If you have Usenet service through your web provider, check out rec.games.video.arcade.collecting and rec.games.video.arcade.marketplace.
The group is big into preservation of arcade games, and they'll hook you up with sources for other inexpensive boards and art. MAME and converting cabs isn't really looked upon as legit, though some of the guys do have both.

If you don't have newsgroup access, you can access the groups through google, but it's very klunky compared to using a regular newsgroup client.

switching games is as EZ as moving the arcade. ;)
Honest. Mine is the double sided VS Uni. "V" shaped
Realy 2 arcades in 1.
1 mother board.  2 coin doors, 2 controll panels,
playes 2 games 1 on each side.

to switch games you have to get the main board out and pop out the 2 main chips and a few more (depends on the game) thay should be labled as to were thay go. (kinda like battle ship. B12 , c11)
kind of like that. Maybe not exactly but you get the jift,
its been a long time since I changed mine over. (HURTS my back  :o) like I said mine is HUGE the heavest thing I have ever moved. I have Super Mario on 1 side and some space fighter game on the other side. come to think of it I feel the need to change one to goonies  ;D
I use a small flat screw driver to pry up the chips. the prongs bend EZ.
If you buy it and need any joysticks for it let me know.
I have  a few extra. (nintendo joysticks are not EZ to find)

It would be so damn cool to MAME one of those.

Have a vertical monitor on one side, horizontal on the other, and both a modern and classic CP on one machine.

Plus it doesn't look like you'd have to worry about dressing it up much other than a couple marquees and CPOs.

Pretty neat.

to be honest. that one is from KLOV
but mine is just like that . in just as good of shape.
as soon as the kids out grow it. ITS MAMED!!
I just have not figured out how the nintendo monitors will do yet on a pc. I think thay are differant from the usual arcade monitors. if its to much like work I will just sell the monitors hook up 2 TV's . I think I would like it to be a 4 player. 1 PC and each set of 2 people would have a screen more elbow room  8)

Usually game boards have a small potentiometer on them that you can turn with a screwdriver for volume.
NO MORE!!

Yeah that would be neat, but as stated, those things are HUGE! I helped a friend move one onve and I think it was harder to move than my wife's piano. They are cool though, just gigantic.

Actually, iirc most nintendo games had the volume control on the monitor.
