Could someone help me with MAMEWah resolution issues...
« on: September 29, 2004, 02:01:46 pm »
This is all new to me, as I have just started trying to get this stuff together to build a cabinet. I am running the most recent version of MAME and running MAMEWah 1.5.1 as the front end. Some games run fine, others are all messed up...really skinny and tall, bottom cut off, for instance Contra, Jackal and Gyruss. I know that this is a resolution issue, and I am having a problem trying to get the games to display properly. What do I need to do?

Is there a thread that deals with this that someone can point me to? Eventually, I will be getting an ArcadeVGA graphics card and monitor, but for the time being, I would like to be able to run these on my current setup so I can get everything working to move over to my dedicated Arcade PC. I know Minwah created a resolution tool and I tried runnning that, but I wasn't sure what to do with the .ini files created.  I am running WinXP and have a GEForce 256 AGP graphics card. If anyone out there can give some advice, I would surely appreciate it.

Firstly, don't use my Res. Tool, until you have the AVGA!

Create a mame.ini file (if you haven't already) - see www.mameworld.net/easyemu if you don't know how to do this.  Then edit it, and fiddle with the '### Windows video options ###'.  Starting with 'resolution 640x480' and 'hwstretch 1' should get you on your way...
