Donkey Kong

I just resently bought the upright Donkey Kong and the sound isnt working.  The speaker works, volumes up, wires are good.  Could it be the soundboard or something else and how could i fix it or replace it?  It makes a quiet and pulsating beep.  Thanks

Are you getting the power up sound ??  When you first turn on a DK, you should be hearing sort of a short swirling sound.  If you are, you likely have a game board problem.  If not you could have a game board problem or an amp board problem.

Verify you have the +5v  +12v and -5v to BOTH boards.  

At the "audio in" circuit at the audio amp board you can use a voltmeter on AC setting and monitor for an audio signal,  it will be a small signal, but if there is something present, you likely have an amp problem.  If it's pretty much a dead circuit then you have a gameboard problem.

Schematics for DK are easily found in PDF format on the net,  a quick google should locate one for you.

Are you familiar or comfortable troubleshooting board level electronics ??  I can provide you some detailed info if you are.  Otherwise, there are several places/folks that do excellent DK board repair.  If the rest of the game is in good overall condition, it's probably worth spending the money to have the boards repaired by a professional.
