What would you pay for this NEO GEO cab??
« on: September 24, 2004, 01:49:49 pm »
What would you pay for this NEO GEO converted cabinet (old Omega Racer cab)?

The kid is looking to sell it because the monitor is going out. He's not selling the MVS 2-slot motherboard with it. It has a 19" CRT monitor but it's going out (turning green). The monitor bezel is bent and one sideart sticker is damaged. One coin mech works and the other has a part of the assembly missing or damaged and doesn't function. Basically, I'd be getting a cabinet with no motherboard and a bad monitor that needs some cosmetic work.

What do ya'll think is a fair price?

Pics below....

Pretend you're not really interested. I doubt many other people in the area would even consider taking it off his hands and if it is indeed dying, he won't want it taking up valuable space and (hopefully) he'll just give it to you for free or next to nothing.

I'd offer $50 since the MDS isn't going with it.  The art is damaged, the coin mechs are broken, and the monitor is giving out.
Still in the collecting parts and ideas phase of cabinet building.

I think $50-$75 is fair, but I expect he'll want more. When negotiating, though, don't make the first offer. If he wants to sell it then let him make the offer. Then work down from there. Your chance of getting another cab is better than his chance of selling it for alot.

I thought negotiating 101 says always make the initial offer...?? Anyways, I offered the guy $50 for it. That's about all I'm willing to pay. Thanks for the input fellas. I'll let you know if I et it...

Not thread-crapping, just wondering, in my area cabs are very scarce.  Is that not a factor in negotiating?  Supply and demand?  I think from the photos that even up to $100 would be reasonable for that particular cab in my part of the US.  What did you guys pay for your cabs and what shape were they in?
I traded a MAME Romset (7 DVDs) for my mostly empty Food Fight converted to Rygar cabinet and I feel I was damn lucky to get out that cheaply!
I was in the only Pinball/Arcade refurb shop here in Lou. KY. today and the guy there said he wasn't selling any of his cabs.
My second batch of cabs I got from an independant operator I met at the laundromat. I averaged $50 a cab for the ones I bought from him not including the working Nintendo Vs cocktails he was going to auction in Knoxville.  HMMM, auction in Oct. Time to make a call!!

Well, I live in Houston, a much bigger city than Louisville, and supply is alot more plentiful here. If I'm patient, I can find someone dumping cabinets and get them for free or next to nothing. I went to an auction about 6 months ago and picked up 3 cabs for a total of $16. Two had PCB's in them (SF II and Breakthru).  The only reason I was willing to pay $50 for this cab is that it's prewired.

Wow you big-city fellers in your high-falutin' towns sure are lucky! ;D
Most of the operators here won't even talk to individuals about parts or cabs, cranky 'ol bastiches!
Best of luck AGGIEZ, looks like a worthy cab ya got there!
