Those with 4-way Wico leafs
« on: September 24, 2004, 10:53:55 am »
Sorry if it's been asked, I did search.

Does your wico 4 way leaf stick spin?  What I mean is does the ball and stick rotate in place if you turn it?  Feels awkward and I would like to fix it from doing this.  Any suggestions?

Yes mine spins.  Don't know if you can change that or, why you'd want to.

With the exception of trigger sticks, almost every other joystick will spin like that.
As a matter of fact, I can't think of ANY non-trigger sticks that DON'T turn like that.
Have you used one that doesn't?

Yeah, I guess they do.  Maybe mine is just real loose and why I notice it.  It's mounted in a wood panel (3/4") so I removed the spring and twisted a bit of wire under between the lower plastic on the shaft and the c-clip to make it a bit taller.  Maybe the spring being gone is making it feel awkward.

Geez, the spring is what makes it "hold" tightly and thus not wobble.

NO MORE!!

Well, without a router i needed it to come up above the panel as much as possible.  I'll put the spring back when I can route it out

you can also get good results by using a chisel if you are working with mdf

Somebody else asked this a while back, and it was suggested (as a joke) that he get the handle & grommet wet and let 'em rust together.  I've got one that is rusted up like that, and it definately does not spin! ;D   It also definately will not come apart! :(

I'm not suggesting you intentionally rust your stick, but you might shoot some glue in between the grommet and handle.  Don't use anything really strong, or you won't ever thet the thing apart again, but if you use some cheap glue that you could break the bond if you pulled hard enough, that might do the job.
