Key strokes stuck.
« on: September 23, 2004, 04:01:10 pm »
When I play mortal kombat or any game where you gotta move the joystick alot, the controls get stuck. Like if I move left, it will keep moveing left even after I release it. It does this with all my controls.

I'm not sure if this is a windows thing or if my keys are actually getting stuck, but that doesn't seem like the case.

Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

I have heard people having better luck with PS/2 instead of USB...I'm not completely sure why, but I use PS/2 without any problems with Windows XP

There have been threads on here in the past with problems with Windows XP and USB just like the previous poster said.  I've got Windows XP and when using the USB keyboard I experience issues from time to time.

For example, may be playing pacman and all of a sudden the keyboard doesn't respond correctly.  It appears that previous keystrokes (or repeated keys by holding keys down) build up in a buffer and get read and responded to later.  If I don't press a key for a few seconds it usually goes back to normal, but it sometimes takes a few minutes.

I have not had the problem when using a keyboard encoder connected to the standard keyboard input but have heard of others having the problem with keyboard encoders connected to USB.

You might try playing around with the keyboard key repeat properties to see if it has an impact.

The problem I was haveing was alot worse then this. I fixed it now.  Still not sure why the buttons were getting stuck.

My problem was that my joysticks were put together wrong. The little knob on the bottom of the joysticks that push on the plates were backwards. I had the little side of the knob hitting on the plates, so I switched them and now i'm able to move freely in a game easily.

Now, i'm haveing the occasional problem you just describe. Which isn't really a big deal, not compared to the other.
