questions about spinners

Hi, i am a newbie


i recently i read about the "universal Inteface" created by
stephan hans, for spinners ( i think it can be used for
trackballs too )

the question are : Somebody have tested/used this interface

it really works

if it realy works, exist a writeup about it ?, because the
"schematics" that exist in the page are really hard to understand
