New I-PAC Programming software released.
« on: September 07, 2002, 09:57:50 am »
The board police will probably move this to the software forum, but since a lot of people use I-PAC's and since I usually only follow this board, I wanted to post it here (for a while, at least).  And someone might have put it on the software board already :(

Anyway, the software is at http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac.html

The software works under XP, has a slick new GUI which is easier to follow (no more converting keys to keycodes, etc.) and allows you to right-click on a button to set it's value to "none".  It can also still be run from a batch file to program your I-PAC "on-the-fly".

Thanks Andy and Scott for continually making a great product even better!!!

I believe I read that that software only works on the newer boards made this year though. Maybe someone can confirm this, but I'm pretty sure.
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

Yeah, you're right, actually the software only works in USB mode with the newer boards.  It MIGHT work in PS/2 mode with older boards.  Older boards can still use the IPACUTIL software.

BTW, I posted a reply which should interest you in the 6-button layout thread :D

"This means that if you are connected using USB, this program will only work on boards shipped after August 1 2002.
For boards shipped before this date, USB mode will not work. If you are connected via the PS/2 keyboard interface, boards shipped before Aug 1 2002 MAY work but there are some complex I-PAC and PC issues which may prevent operation. This software is fully supported with either connection method and all Windows versions for boards shipped after Aug 1 2002."

lucky me, huh?  I had the OLD ipac with the AT plug.  Something went wrong with it, Andy let me trade it in for "repairs".  I got a whole new IPAC (after august 1st I believe too).  I don't use the USB anyway...
