Duplicate joys on P1
« on: September 17, 2004, 04:22:27 pm »
Hey all,

Having a problem getting duplicate joys to work on P1.  Basically, I have a JPAC->HAPP360->WICO 4-way leaf connected serially (daisy chained).  The WICO doesn't seem to want to work, and it takes a couple of seconds for the HAPP to respond.  I've read where people said to run them in parallel (meaning I would have to splice Jamma harness) but I'm unsure of this approach.  Also, all grounds are daisy chained and work properly.

Any help would be appreciated, as I'm almost done with this cabinet and would like to get playing. :)

Thanks,
Ed

First, I'm guessing you mean the joysticks are connected to an I-Pac (J-Pac connects the PC to the Jamma cab)?  Anyway, if the I-Pac works like the KeyWiz, you should be able to wire in parallel (i.e.--the positive wires from the joysticks connected together at the I-Pac's U/D/L/R slots, and the negative wires connected at the ground).  This is how I have two different joysticks wired on my Keywiz, and they both seem to work without any problems (you just can't use both sticks at once, but the nagain, why would you?).  Think of it this way--all the ground wires are connected together some way, since there only one or two GRD connections, so connect the two joysticks the same way on the positive end.  Anyway, if you want more detailed info, PM me and I'll see if I can make a diagram of it.

Actually, no, they're hooked up to the Jamma harness (joy->joy->harness->jpac).

Of course, what you're saying it to hook them up in parallel and not serial.  Will have to splice the harness wire (or punch it out of the harness itself) to do that.

Oh well...

Thanks,
Ed

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the J-Pac, but the method I described should work fine regardless.
