Atari start button cones being made
« on: September 16, 2004, 05:32:25 pm »
Hi all,

Thought I'd pass on the following info, found on the google arcade collecting newsgroup:

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&th=a775a7200c5deb09&rnum=1

If this link doesn't work, do a search for 'Atari cones' and it should be easy to find.  Essentially, there is another effort underway to have new repros of both the metal and black cones for Atari buttons.  I'm not affiliated with it, but figured some might be interested.

They seem a bit on the expensive side.  But they go consistently for 10+ each on ebay for used ones...

It would have been nice if they looked for a standard button, then just fashioned a cone around it.  I believe there is something close at radioshack that would work.

I've not had a need for these but see people searching for them from time to time.

Do these cones have threads in the center so they screw onto the button from underneath?

Is there a Happs button (or other resource) that could serve as a replacement if someone were to fabricate the cones?

My neighbor owns a metal shop and has done a few small run items for me from time to time.....nothing arcade related but I've been considering a couple of different ideas.
