Has anyone else seen this? I was browsing around for sound files when I came across this. Scroll down to Donkey Kong where it says Mamejump. This is absolutely hillarious.

Thanks for posting this.  My kids (4, 3 and 2) can't get enough of it.  I personally like it cause of all the older games getting represented (and for the fact that Van Halen kicked @$$!)

Wow.  I didn't realize there were that many (or that they've been around for a few years).  Thanks!

Done converting to a screensaver! Needed some hexediting to get rid of the buttonpress when the movie is loaded.

Anyone who wants this movie as a screensaver, you can get it here;

I think you may have done something wrong in the SS making process...

When I went to preview and select the screensaver it didn't stop the previous versions that it had already started.  To hopefully explain a little better...

The little preview of what the screensaver will look like started playing... music starts blah blah blah

Then I click preview... Music starts... old music is still playing

I move mouse, preview stops mini preview starts again, now I have the music playing over itself 3 times!

Anyways I had to CTR ALT DEL and end the process...
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Thanx, I see that in the preview things go wrong. :( I'll try another screensaver creator see if that helps!

update: oke I used another screensaver creator which does not have this bug, i've updated the mamejump.zip archive here;

Cool,

Where do I store this file if I'm using Windows 98?

it's an installer which installs the .scr file into c:\windows and set it as the default screensaver.

edit: oh btw make sure you go to your display propertiesand then goto the settings for the screensaver and set the quality to low. This ensure that the graphics are all "blocky" as they should be.

ries, you *rock*, dude!

Would you please convert "Mame the Night" to a SS?

What program are you using?

If you enjoy doing this sort of thing, you could always do JibJab's "This Land is Your Land" and you'd make even more friends :-)

(hint hint hint)

I'm using flash .scr master to convert it to an installable screensaver, Sothink SWF decompiler to get the hex codes and then a hex editor to edit out the button code in the flash movie.

I'll try to do some more later on!

update: here is the screensaver version of mame the night;

Is it possible to make it so that the screensaver will randomly choose these videos and play different ones?

Great work, by the way. I was hoping that these would get made into a screensaver and wala, you had already done it!!

Thanks.

Alas, I cannot do this with this software but selecting a random screensaver can be achieved using other tools such as this freeware one; http://www.clearnight.com.au/random.htm

Look in c:\windows and c:\windows\system32 and move all *.scr files you don't want shown to another directory. (does not work under xp due to windows file protection :(  )

This one is even better as free random screensaver thingy;

These are great.  Thanks again!

JibJab worked for me but after the video, background music just looped at the end... (like "Mame the Night")

Has there been any luck of Forever Young being done. I tried to mess around and do it but I am apperantly inept at making flash into Screen savers. But in any case thanks for everything you have done.

The mame forever flovie is my favorite (Oh the drama!  Makes me cry, then get all filled with joy when he is enlightened by MAME and builds a cab...this is a tribute to building arcade controls!)

followed by mamerock...Here is MAME!  Rock you like a hurricane!

then Mamejump

and the rest.

Maybe you could make a screen saver with the high quality swf of MAMEJUMP at the bottom of the page!!!
http://www.powerstrike.net/flovies.html
The music is much better, as it isn't compressed

For other MAME movie goodness, check out

Arcade 84 is awesome.  I use "The games that time forgot" as my intro to the 3D-Arcade front-end.  And you can't go wrong with anything related to Bond: They only live twice!  Nice reference to arcade games having a second life in MAME!

Then there's always the retroblast video reviews... ;D
...they only live twice!...

Ries (or anyone else)

Do you know how to take an SWF or a "compiled SWF" (i.e., EXE format) and convert it to an MPEG or AVI?

Freeware/shareware w/ no nags are best, obviously.

Pleast post here or PM me.  Thanks.

I haven't tried it myself but this might do the trick

Sorry for not creating more screensavers, but real life needed attention...
