GroovyGameGear TopFire - Mounting on Wooden CP
« on: September 14, 2004, 07:00:49 pm »
Anyone have any tips for mounting one of these on a wooden panel, without using a visible mounting plate?  My other two sticks are T-Stiks which will just have a hole cut in the panel for the shaft with the dust washer on top.  I'd like to have this one mounted with just the shaft coming through the panel, too.

As you can see from the picture, the plastic base has a "mound" molded into it, and then there's a bit of a skirt at the bottom of the plastic on the stick's shaft.  I could route out the bottom of the CP to make room for the mound, and have the hole just big enough for the skirt.  One problem with this, though, is that I can't figure out how to disassemble this joystick so I can re-assemble it through the CP (like you do with a T-Stik).  Has anyone successfully disassembled one of these?

Anyone have any better ideas for how to mount one of these without a visible mounting plate?
