I dont see why you say that
I have used over 100 of them and have had no problems.

I have never been one to buy name brands
I have a huge colection of movies and I am backing up 100's of VCR tapes
I am using 3 PC's with the cheapest dvd burners from tiger direct ($45.00) each
plus I am always backing up my Hard drives
at less than 50 cents a disk I think its great.

I don't buy brand names either.

You can easily find much much MUCH better discs at under 50 cents a disc.  NewEgg has a 100 pack of 8x riteks right now for 50 bux + a $10 rebate.  I said what I said because those discs are not good.  The dyes are consistently uneven, the burn quality is sub-par, and they have been known (and I've experienced) to simply not work after as little as 4 months.

I didn't mean to personally insult you... it's just not worth the risk IMHO that all your discs may not work a year from now.  I'd much rather buy quality than save 3 cents a disk.  I've used them, as have hundreds of reviewers online, and they all say CMC are terrible.  You've had good luck.... good for you, but I fear you may be upset if failures occur after only a few months... especially on hard drive backups and movie backups....

Well I'm not wishing that on you either... hopefully they will be fine.  I just don't trust them because CMC has one of the highest failure rates around... just not worth it in my book.

That site has its fair share of fear mongering wouldn't you say?  I've bought a number of different types in their class 3 and 4 and have had maybe 1% failure rates more likely caused by encoding errors than anything else.  Furthermore I've checked some of my oldest burns (2 yrs now) and they still run fine.  And although 2 yrs isn't that much, dvd writing hasn't been prevalent to the average consumer for much more than that.  I guess I am just an anomoly ::)
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...
