eBay auctions - marquees & more - ALL DONE
« on: September 12, 2004, 10:19:09 pm »
Here's links to a few of my arcade-related eBay auctions.  Maybe I have something that you need.

NOS Kick Man marquee

NOS caberet-style Solar Fox marquee

glass Turtles marquee

12' blue rope light that pulses to music /sounds - would be cool on a MAME cabinet

Might want to change the description on the Turtles marquee.  ;)

Here's an original glass Turtles marquee by Stern. This is a great item for arcade memorabilia collectors or someone trying to complete a Tron cabinet.

Thanks!  I used the Tron listing as a template and screwed it up...  Fixed now.  :)

Umm, why did you remove the Atari 2600JR with built in games?

If you still have it, I'll offer you $20 total (including shipping costs (parcel post is fine) to zip 58104).

Thanks

There seemed to be a distinct lack of interest in this item, so I took it down.  I thought it would be more desirable, but it didn't have a single bid, and hardly anybody even had it on their watch list.  I'd rather just hold onto it for now.

If you change your mind on selling that 2600 clone, I'm still interested.

Removing an item before close is not the best move.  Most people bid in the final minutes before an auction ends.    if you wern't willing to sell it at the opening price, you should place a higher opening on it.

As such it appears that two of us here were interested in the item, and I'm better more would have possibly bid as well.

Just my $0.02

Indeed. I had no intention of bidding until toward the end of the auction. Looks like if I had bid, monitor guru & I would have been bidding against each other.

All of my auctions that sold had bids before the last day.  Also, they had a larger number of people watching them.  This item had hardly anybody with it on their watch list, and no bids.  Had there been even a single bid, it would have stayed up there.  I'd rather keep it or give it away than cater to the snipers.

I've had numerous auctions close lately on ebay with 4-5 watchers, and 200+ hits (used computer parts, old handheld games) --- all of them WITHOUT BIDS at the end. While at the same time I have stuff BIN'd or bit on at the last second with no watchers and 10-20 hits.

# of watchers and hits doesn't guarentee anything.

Also, sniping does NOT lessen the amount you could make. It ensures fairness in bidding however by not disclosing your amount.  if two people bid early for $25 and $50 respectively, your item would sell for $25.50.   If they both sniped at the end for the same amounts, your item would again, sell for $25.50.

As a seller I don't mind snipers.  As a seller I NEVER end an auction early.

As a buyer, I refuse to bid early because I never know the intent of the seller and possible fake bidders so dont want to expose interest until the last second, but I bid as high as I would had I placed an early bid.

The difference is that you probably care whether your item sells or not.  In this case, I didn't care one way or the other if this item sold.  If it sold, great.  If it didn't, it's going back in the closet.  Maybe if you wait long enough, it'll appear on eBay again.  If so, and you still are in the market for one of these, I suggest you bid a little earlier.
