WTB: Mini-itx motherboard....
« on: September 10, 2004, 11:10:47 am »
i need a mini-itx motherboard for a project im working on.  it doesnt have to be fast....not even 1ghz really but 1ghz would be fine though.

i have some things for trade if you want, or i can just buy it straight up if the price is right (i sound like bob barker...minus the "straight up")

trade:
- cool Super Masters golf control panel with marquee
pic here http://www.arcadecontrols.com/files/Uploads/DSC00160.JPG

- various pc games...some for cab (golden tee pc)

but anyway, i really want one of these things and dont feel like paying $90 for it new.  please post ;D

Considering the high demand for these things, you're gonna have a hard time beating $90. It's just a fact. Even on Ebay, these things go for more. Granted, there are many models, but you know what I mean.

Goto sfftech.com / sudhian.com forums.  Those guys have an active FS/FT for Small Form Factor Stuff.  You may find some FlexATX (almost as small as mini-itx) as well there.

Good luck.  :)
Nothing witty here...move along.

Now there's an idea. Though you may not have all the integrated components, a flex-atx board with P3 processor can cost less. Just don't go overboard on a video card and you can probably get one for less than the $90 you were looking at before.

By the way, what do yu need this thing for?

i'm going to put a pc inside of a NES box....so i really dont need a video card.  it will only be running nes games...and the mini-itx mobo is the only one that will fit.

nah...the whole purpose is to use and NES with a pc inside and be able to play only nes games on it.  im also wiring the existing nes controller ports on the box to work with the existing nes controllers.  so to the naked eye, it will be a regular 8-bit NES....but it will in fact be a pc with nes roms on it.

well unless i can get the mini-itx mobo for cheap (as in trades or really low cost) i dont think this will happen for a while because i told my wife that i might be starting another "project" to which she replied "well if you are going to spend money on games, im going to spend money on clothes"....argh....so the only way to pull this off without being like 300 bucks in the hole is to get a cheap mobo from somebody.  anybody??? ;D

You could always use a normal machine thats hidden.

If you are building a bartop cabinet.  You might want to save space for a powersupply and mini-itx board, but just pass a keyboard extension cable and monitor cable out the back to a computer hidden below.

Then when you have the cash, get one then.

well the whole point is to completely mount all the pc parts inside the NES box, so yeah i guess i could do what you say, but i think ill just wait until i get a mini-itx.  man i wish i could get one for cheap!

Cool idea....

How were you planning to interface the NES controllers to the PC?
