Order of Assembling Cabinet

Hey to all you builders,

I recently built the frame for a 4 player-cabinet. I've cut the tmolding slots already, but I have yet to install the front/back door.  I'm just wondering the order of some steps.

1. Do I put the hinges on the door last since the tmolding may affect them?  I have no experience with tmolding...

2. What kind of hinges do people use to attach the front/rear door as well as the control panel?

Well, since you already have the slots cut for the t-molding, I would install that now.  Then you can position your doors & hinges to see how they might interfere with the t-molding.

Use whatever hinges you want.  My hinges are these really nice brass ones I got for a desk I was building for my wife.  Then she changed her mind and didn't want them.

Long hinges are called "piano hinges". Use that.

For the back door, don't hinge it at all. Just make it so that there's an inner lip to hold the door in place and your lock should keep it closed. You want it removable (not hinged) so you can have complete unhindered access to the back.

That's a damn good idea, where were you when I was still in the planing stages of my cab?

Oh well, I attached mine with a piano hinge and those magnetic child saftey locks to keep it closed.

Good thing I saw this before my Home Depot trip - I can cross hinges off of my list!
