Carriage Bolts

Trying to find a place that sells small bolts.  Went to home depot and canadian tire.  Anyone know where you can pick these up?  Its for mounting joystick btw.  Thanks

Home Depot really ought to have them. If you don't find them in the bins, check the labeled plastic bags.

Otherwise, local hardware stores specialize in this sort of stuff. Check your local True Value hardware store if you have one. Their "Bolt Bin" is pretty well stocked.

Don't bother trying Lowes either.  When I built my first cab I went to Eagle Hardware (regional company bought by Lowes a year later), they had the size 10 bolts.  Went back to the same store 6 mos. ago and a Lowe's rep told me I would have to go to a specialty store for an item like that.

The carrage bolts with the smooth top is very hard to find.  Especially if you want them in a #10 size / thread.  I've only been able to scrounge mine from old control panels that i've bought off ebay or local swap meets, etc.  
   I'd love to be able to buy a box of 100 at home depot or someplace locally.....

I've had good luck with OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware). Much better selection than the typical Lowes or Home Depot.

Another place suggested to me was Pacific Fasteners in Burnaby, B.C.  I may drive out there to grab some, otherwise I'll have them shipped to me.  They accept phone orders with Credit Card.

Holy, I just ordered 40 of the #10 1 1/2" carriage bolts... they are not cheap.  $29.50 CDN for 100.  I would go with www.therealbobroberts.com or www.happcontrols.com if you can (especially if you have other stuff to order)!

Anyone ever try Brafasco? There's one just a few blocks away from me. I'll check them out. If they have the right kind, I'll buy a big lot so others here can get some.

A box of 100 (10-24 x 1 1/2") ordered from the link I posted above (boltdepot.com) will cost $4.49 USD plus shipping.  To have it shipped to my address brings the grand total to just over $11.00, which is much less than Bob Roberts ($20.00 plus shipping).

I didn't even shop aroound for prices, I just grabbed the first promising link from the google search results.  You could probably do better if you searched for places close to your area, or found someplace that might cut you a deal on shipping.  Anyway, the bolts are there if you really can't find them in any stores near you.

Yeah but do they have smooth tops? Are they shiny steel or are they galvanized? Do you know? Alot of carriage bolts out there are made for industrial uses (outdoors, machinery, stuff you don't care how it LOOKS).

The ones I'm getting are shiny tops... someone suggested to paint them Black with BBQ paint and cook them in the oven for 1/2 hour to set the paint.  Hope that works!!

Did you even bother to click on the link?  All your questions are answered there.  Let me state again, I did not shop around.  I just grabbed the site at the top of the google search.

The point here is that there are HUNDREDS of on-line places to buy fasteners.  You can get what you want for the price you want, if you are williing to do a lilttle work for it.

Go ahead, pay $30.00 for your bolts.  In the end, you have your complete cab, and that's what really matters.
