Recompiling roms
« on: September 07, 2004, 07:40:16 am »
Currently running Mame32 0.84b and would like to upgrade to the newest version and was wondering if the roms need to be recomplied to work with the newer version and how I would do that, what advantages, disadvantages to doing it and or if I should do it or not.  A faq would also be helpful if someone knows a link.

Thank,

Tim

Um, roms aren't compliled. Well, technically they are, but not in anyway we have anything to do with.

Just install the newest version, almost all of your old roms will work right. If any don't it will only be one or two of them (which you might need to download new versions of).
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

If you are talking abotu "fixing" roms, try http://www.clrmame.com/.   Roms that have changed from releases can be easily merged in with this app.
