putting cp together

Hey, quick question

putting my cp together, all is well.  I will be running out to printer on monday to get my new overlay printed on peel and stick vinyl.  I will be putting plex ontop of the overlay...  My question is this...

I have read somewhere and heard the term "spacing washers" or something like that use for plex on a cp.  What is that used for?

I was under the impression you just slap the plex right ontop of the graphic and you're off to the races.

The only reason I can see the washers for is so if you ever remove the plexi it won't remove any artwork off of the vinyl.  I would guess you would have to on there for a pretty long time.  There really is no reason to ever remove the plexi anyway since you will be doing all the servicing from the bottom, unles you decide to go with a different type of joystick in the future.
