depending on how handy you are this might be useful:

http://www.tknq.net/mame/diagram.html

those drawings were  all i used to build mine:

if you want to build it with a vertical panel like the ebay one i would consider making a test panel and see if its comfortable playing mame on your pc first. i vaguely remember finding them awkward...

Buy one, get it shipped to you. I have owned 4 of those now and I can tell you that you would have to be an expert cabinet maker and own a metal fabrication shop to build one of those.

They are fairly cheap too. I just sold two of the darn things to soulcon for around $60 each.

Also, Danny, I can't believe you built one of those! I see yours is a bit different than the normal ones though, as the normal ones use a lot of metal in addition to the wood.

Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Being an Aussie I'd really like plans or a kit for something similar too. We just didn't see the Ms.Pacman style tabletops here. Seems to me the interest in these Japanese style tables is growing around here lately.

Alot of the metal work I saw in the cabs I purchased from Paigeoliver could be converted to wood. That is with careful planning and the knowledge it would be slighty bigger. The legs are simple to make seeing as you can just buy Square metal bars and weld them. I am actually going to try with mine a small fabrication to convert the vertical control panels to horizontal. I think it would be a little more comfortabe for my wife. However I want to keep the Classic look about it so I might go to a metal shop and have them fabricate the a piece that would just push out the current panel.

Ofcourse this will be after I mess with my Atari Basketball cabinet. I went into my basement to see my newest arrivals from Paigeoliver and My mind went gogo. There are so many options I can do with this cab its insain. but that is a different topic. sorry for going a stray.
