Space Invaders Cocktail -Bought it!

I've got a lead on a Space Invaders cocktail table. Wondering if any of you guys could ballpark a value on this item. It's the Midway version and I'm told it's in pretty good condition, but haven't seen it yet.

Space Invaders, Space Invaders Deluxe or Space Invaders II ?   About $250-$400  from what I could find searching the groups, if you're talking about Space Invaders II (looks like a Pac-Man cocktail, not like a Taito/Atari cocktail)  I'd say less for the older versions.

Warning: Just like Pacman and Gorf, the artwork was painted on the underside of the glass.  This means 2 things. First, if the glass was scracthed, you'd have no way to transfer the artwork. Second, people scrached off a lot of the black above the control panel, and/or a lot of the art gets damaged from simple movement or the hot/cold cycle from use or (improper) storage.  

so even though everything might be in good enough condition, you'd spend a good $50 on a new piece of glass if it's scratched and then an untold amount trying to replace/repro the artwork.  Now if that is in perfect condition, then you've got a very good deal.

The rest of the cabinet is easily fixable and NOS replacement parts like control panel overlays I still see frequently on ebay and don't go for all that much.

The B+W monitor might be the hardest thing to find an identical replacement for if it is failing, but you probably could do a tube swap out of a consumer TV set just like color

Oh, I neglected to mention that this is a fully functioning machine in good cosmetic condition, not a gutted cab that I intend to MAME or anything like that.

Also, how easy is it to locate the boards for this machine? Just in case something breaks, I'd like to know if they pop up on ebay all the time or if they're on the rare side.

Stingray: You know the mantra... "Post pics". It's too difficult to make judgements on things based on hear-say. That person selling it might say it's in good condition, but it could be only average. Who knows...

Well, since I don't have any pics to post, and won't unless I buy it, that's not an optionon this one I'm afraid . I'll know what I'm looking at condition-wise when I see it. I was just sort of hoping for a range. MonitorGuru says $250-$400, which I take to mean $250 if it works, but is pretty tatty and $400 if it's super clean.  Anyone agree or disagree with this?

I bought this cocktail about a year ago and have since put new glass and a new underlay, refinished the coin door and have a new set of CPOs that i haven't installed yet.

I wouldn't take less that $500 for mine. I saw one on eBay a while back that didn't look this good go for $499.

It is a Deluxe, you don't seem to see many Deluxe cocktails around. I have a regular S.I. board in it right now to replace the Deluxe board that needs repair.

Thanks for your input. Is that the correct underlay for a SI Deluxe cocktail? It's certainly better looking than the one on the machine pictured in the flyer I posted.

Yeah, its a perfect repro. I also have the original put away in storage. The underlay was flaking away from the glass.

yeah, I like this version better. The gameplay is almost the same though.

Okay, I went ahead & bought it. The picture is really crappy, but the cab is not. The artwork on the top is is in really nice condition, with only a couple of minor scratches. The CP artwork is worn around the controls where players hands rubbed it (eventually I'll probably try to source some repro artwork for the CPs). Otherwise this cab is in fantastic condition. I think the price we agreed on was more than fair given the overall condition.

And you gotta love that thummping bass that you get from a real Space Invaders cab.  



Anyone know of a place that sells reproduction artwork for the CPs on these cabs?

I have this set from ArcadeOverlays.com. They were very helpful and had me send them pics of my cp so they could design these.

They don't wrap around the cp buy they do cover the top. They look very nice, I haven't bothered to put them on b/c I don't feel like tearing it apart right now.
