Nintendo connectors
« on: September 01, 2004, 09:42:56 pm »
Anyone know what type of connector the 8 bit NES game console used for it's joysticks?  I've been looking for them high and low and can't seem to find out what type they are.   They must be available somewhere since the blackchopper.com guys are using them.  I need them for my atari2600 joystick/ipac contraption.

Here's a novel idea: ask them.
They probably won't mind sharing their supplier, and may even sell you the connectors themselves.

Or, you could just find an old NES and take it's plugs.
(If you don't mind destroying a holy relic.)

The information here might help, it shows all the pin layouts for the NES controller.

Well of course I thought of that.  I thought I might ask here first.  Someone always seems to be able to answer these sorts of questions.  If I end up not finding out I will end up doing just that.

I wouldn't do that.  Although I don't consider the NES a holy relic.  I think I am too old.    ;)

Robotron 2084 however, is a shrine not to be tampered with.

Ahh, had not thought of that.  I had been doing tons of searches for the connectors themselves.

thanks for the tip...

Actually, you might contact Retrozone.  They convert old NES controllers to USB- I bet they have a ton of connectors laying around.

Free Plug: I've bought sets of their NES and SNES controllers and they are a couple of the best emulation purchases I have made.  Too much fun. :)
