Steering wheel help
« on: August 27, 2004, 04:30:10 pm »
Can I use a windows usb steering wheel under mame.  I have a old logitech force GP laying around and was curious if it would work ?  I know it work well or at all for games that go 360 degrees on the wheel, but what about for games that don't and how would I set that up ?

it should work. make sure to enable joystick in your mame settings. add -joystick to your command line or activate the joystick box in the controllers section of mame32. once in game tab into the settings and map your controls and adjust analog settings.

It should work OK for 270 degree games.
My only complaint with the one I had hooked up is that it felt cheap to me.

I've since bought a Happ 270, but don't have it hooked up yet.

Can you let us know how it goes when you have it hooked up?  I'm considering get my wife a good wheel and was wondering if it would be worth the extra cash.

Thanks!

Actually I should have said that I don't have it MOUNTED yet.

I hooked it up using an analog stick hack, and it worked great.
It was a little difficult to use unmounted obviously, but I have no doubts I'll like it alot once it's mounted.

I am planning to pick up one of Dave's AKI cards for the interface.
