USB Interface For Spinners
« on: August 26, 2004, 04:27:45 pm »
Does anyone know whether the Oscar USB Interface will connect to ANY spinner (i.e. a Tempest/Arkanoid, et al), or just the Oscar spinners?  I almost bought a spinner on Ebay, but didn't know if the interface would work with it.  Also, is the opti-pac type boards necessary to make convert the spinner to USB, or just the interface?  Any info is appreciated.

You can use the Oscar interface on most any spinner, but it doesn't work with all optic boards, so you might want to buy an oscar optic board just to be safe. I know the oscar interface does not work with the optic boards on Sega Vector spinners, but it works fine with those spinners if you switch the optic board for one of his.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

So, for example, the Arkanoid spinner that's FS a few posts above would probably work with just buying the USB interface (since it's not a Sega board)?
