Buck rogers cab dimesions
« on: August 23, 2004, 10:49:36 pm »
I was wondering if anyone has measurements for a buck rogers sit down cab. I have read other threads and found the following measurements (which have been very helpful - thankyou!!)

QUOTE: Started by Felsir, Message by Rocky
Here's the measurements for the Buck Rogers sit down:
(I used Tailgunners' drawing)
A:  9.5" in front, 8.5" at the back
B:  16.25" to the base of the pedal, 25.5" to the end of the floor area
C:  19"  (but the CP has a trigger stick)
D:  27.5"
E:  3"

Sorry I don't know how to post the pic/or the thread/s that goes with this post.

I was wondering if anyone had any other measurements like:
length,
depth
and height of the cab
dimesnions of monitor enclsoure (ie height from D to top)
arm rest side dimensions

I think I would like to base a driving cab on a similar design, so any help any one could give would be much appreciated  ;D

Thanks  :)

I might be able to help you, if I can find someone online who is willing to measure it for me.  Give me a few days.

By the way, are you talking about the fully enclosed cockpit?

I wasn't referring to the enclosed cockpit. There is a cab that has the monitor enclosed and seat attached. I will try to add a pic.

Ah, this one

That one is a little more rare I think, but I'll still look around.

I have a Buck Rogers sit down (not enclosed) that I'm working on.

IMO it is ideal for a sitdown cab design. It is really 2 pieces. The seat is small and light enough that I can lift it by myself and carry it (not recommended for stairs). The monitor / PCB / CP section is about the size of a Mini-cabinet.

atari: I'll get the measurements you asked for and post back here.

atari2600chick,

I'm working with Jakobud so he can create a complete set of plans for the Buck Rogers sitdown.

In the mean time, here are the dimensions you asked for:

Length
   At bottom -- 56"
At its longest point (near the top of the seatback) -- 64"

Depth (I'm guessing width?)
  27 5/8" wide (outside dimensions)

Height of cab
38" at top of seat back
  18" at arm rest
  33 3/4" at back door
47" above monitor (after 45 degree angle)
50" at front edge of monitor encloser

Monitor encloser
  26 1/2" wide x 19" high
(monitor is offset in the encloser)

Arm Rest
  7" wide (exterior dimensions)
9" long (for monitor piece of cabinet)
25 3/4" long (for seat piece of cabinet)

Seat
20 3/4" wide including right side piece
20 1/8" wide for just the seat

I hope this gives you some ideas. I think Jakobud will have some plans soon. We still have to exchange some more information before he can do them.

Good luck,

Rocky
