TV power ON problem

The TV that i have in my arcade cabinet unforutnatly doesnt turn on if you leave it turned on once you apply power to it.  Resulting in having to push the power button each time after powering up the computer.  Does anyone know a work around to this?  If i leave it on all the time without the rest of the machine turned on, then it has a big "AUX" input logo in the top right that is always on, and im worried that, that will burn in.

I have a monitor bezel and a piece of glass currently infront of the tv, which adds to the problem.

The only suggestion that I got that seemed feasable to me (I have the same problem).  Was from TalkingOctopus:

Instead of actually using the remote, you can take it apart and wire the power button of the remote to a pushbutton and put it on the back of your cab.  Then remove the IR transmitter, extend it with wires, and put it right next to your tv.  I did this with an RCA universal remote ~$8, instead of using the actual TV remote.  My IR sensor was covered so I had to find an alternative.

Instead of wiring to the power button on the remote, and moving the ir xmiter and all, why not wire to the power button on the tv?

I thought i read somewhere on here that they decased the tv and then soldered the power button circuit closed.  

Dunno what your tv looks like as far as decasing it but it could be something to consider.........

The only reason I didn't want to do that is because I didnt' want to do anything to the TV in case one day I want to remove it and just use it as a TV.  Thus the reason for the remote, and not the original remote buy an el' cheapo universal remote and hack it.

One of the other people on the board wedged a paperclip in by his powerbutton so that it was always pressed in.  This is an easily reverseable procedure you might want to try and see if it works for you.

Ya I tried that with my RCA didn't work for me.  Maybe it might work for bionicbadger, good suggestion, I forgot about that trick.

I have that same problem on my cabinet too. While reading this thread I just thought about using an IR extender I have had for a while with my TV and putting the remote next to my power button on top of my cab. I can easily run one of the wires to any part of my cab and the other in front of the tv behind the bezel.

X10 and radio shack sell extenders with optional entensions which are much smaller that can be attached to the receiver.

This is the easiest option without having to cut a hole in my bezel so I can turn on the tv via the remote.
