Oscar Vortex vs Push/Pull spinner
« on: August 23, 2004, 03:10:08 pm »
For a new cab/cp, would you be giving up anything if you went with the Oscar push/pull spinner over the Vortex?  Is straight spinner play (i.e. Tempest)sacrificed if you use a multi-function spinner?

Oh, and when does one lose the 'my-head's-about-to-explode' feeling from all the research prior to actually building one of these things?!  Between 'The Book', this forum, and all the related links...holy cow.

No.

You're gaining the push/pull functionality.
The feel for straight spinner games is fairly comparable.

I did need to put a bit of mylar tape on the cross shaft of my push/pull to tighten it up a bit when switching directions.
It had a little bit of backlash to it because of the way it is designed.

As far as the "full-head" thing goes, I've never really had that problem.
I suffer more from the "empty head" syndrome.
It seems like, with each new thing I learn, I discover THREE other things I know nothing about yet.

You do lose some CP space due to the "footprint" of the push pull. If your CP is small and cramped, you might not be able to fit in the Push-Pull, whereas you could fit the Vortex.
NO MORE!!

I changed the pin design a few months ago to eliminate the backlash.
