Where to Buy Laminate in Bay Area???
« on: August 23, 2004, 02:51:45 pm »
Anyone in the BayArea, CA know of a good place to buy laminate for a good price.  Home Depot doesnt have any and if they do you have to special order it.

Thanks,
Aki

Home Depot  (blossom hill, gilroy) does carry some including a black made by WilsonArt. Unfortunately most of the stock that they do carry is often scratched or cracked. Lowes has another brand, but I think black is special order. Price is arround $41 for a 4x8 sheet.

You might try calling the Expo store on Almaden Expwy as I heard they carry some, but I have not physically seen it.

Hope this helps,

Open up your yellow pages and start calling places. I found this local laminate wholesale warehouse that sells em for $14 a sheet(black, orange, etc). You don't find any at all then you can order online from www.wilsonart.com

Hey Oval..   I'm in the BayArea Cali myself..   Let me know if you find a place and what the charge as I am looking for myself.

I can tell you though that EXPO on Almaden is gonna be hella expensive.  The other place you can try is Southern Lumber on Monterey @ Alma.  There's also a few cabinet makers local here that would probably have access to it as well.

Good luck, and let me know how you do.

Thanks for the replys you guys.  I will try calling around, hopefully I can find someone who sells them for $14, but I wont hold my breath (what an awesome deal you got SNAAKE!)

From what I remember, Southern Lumber was REALLY expensive... $60-$80 a sheet.  Plus they had a limited selection.

FWIW:
Local HomeDepot (Richmond) has four colors of wilsonArt laminate, $42 per 8x4.  Black, egg white, oak and granite, IIRC.  Doesn't look look like they have a good turn over rate, because every time I check for a sale (ya, right), it looks like I was the last one to touch them, fignerprints in the dust and all.

HomeDepot (Emeryville) had a better selection (5 colors, & not dust covered) last time I looked ~ three months ago, but @ $48.

Nearest Lowe's (Union City) had formica brand laminate, fifty something last time I checked about 6 months ago.
