USB IPAC with USB->ps2 adapter
« on: August 23, 2004, 11:50:18 am »
Since my computer isnt really liking the ipac connected to my computer by USB.  (it keeps loosing its installation information each time i reboot causing me to have to  uninstall and reinstall it all the time)  I tried using a USB->PS2 adapter that came with my logitech mouse (those little dongle things), and switched my connection type in the ipac software over to PS2 as the connection.  This didnt work :(  Has anyone else been able to get the IPAC connected by ps2?  or is it just that dongle that's messing things up.  I looked everywhere and i cant find a Male to Male ps2 cable.  Just a Male to Female one.  And i couldnt find a gender bender to use with that.  Anyone know how you attach up the IPAC by ps2?

I've only ever connected mine with PS/2 so yes they definitely work.  I have purchased male to male PS/2 cables so they do exist (b eing in Australia there's no point telling you where I got mine) but obviously not as common as male to female (extension) cables.

I just realized that i think i remember seeing a USB/PS2 jumper on the IPAC that i didnt switch. I will give that a shot when i get home and see if that does the trick with the dongle

Ahh yes, well it certainly won't work in PS2 mode whatever cable/connector you have without the jumper set correctly! ;)
