PC boot up tip
« on: August 23, 2004, 05:04:02 am »
Hi all,
I wanted to power up my cabinet with 1 switch. PC, arcade monitor, everything. Which is pretty hard to do as my Motherboard does not have an "boot up on key press" option or anything like that (and its an extra key press). But i found a way around it.

I have a found a pulse relais that simulates the switching on of a pc.

Finder Timer 1W 16A type 81.01.0.230

http://www.findernet.com/en/products/profiles.php?serie=80&lang=en&gruppo=gruppo2

Here is how i managed it. Everyting that needs power is hooked up to the same powerbox.  That powerbox has a switch that i use to turn everything on. Now this pulse relais uses normal 220V (i live in holland) so i  hooked it up to the same powerbox. Then, i took the two wires that go from my motherboard to the switch of my pc casing, cut the wires near that switch and connected it to the pulse relais. Now when i turn on the power, the pulse relais will switch on and off briefly, simulating the switch of the pc case.

Hope it helps someone out there.

Ed

how much did you pay for that relay?  i would imagine a capacitor to be a much cheaper solution..
