I used one of these 12 keypads from BG Micro - its non-matrixed and cheap:http://www.bgmicro.com/prodinfo.asp?sid=097391203703703721618031121&prodid=SWT1068&page=1&cri=SWT1068&stype=3&time_out=19:57
If it interests you, i was able to use this keypad also from jameco:http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=121971It is a matrix keypad, but i was able to decode the matrix and wire up each key individually. It involved cutting some traces and soldering to each key, but its only a half-hour job or so using the info I posted here:http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=5;action=display;threadid=14302Just thought i'd offer yet another alternative.
I'm just starting to make an MP3 jukebox. I really like the control panel here:http://www.cybertechdesign.net/mameroom//examples/P1010835.jpgbut i priced the buttons at Happ and they are $6 each - there are 22 square buttons so that comes to $120 for buttons!!!! I can probably cut the number of buttons down ( I want the triangle/arrow buttons), but I really would like to find an alternate source for a numeric keypad. Anyone found a suitable numeric keypad that could be used on a jukebox? Can anyone tell me if this:http://tinyurl.com/4fhe6 is referring to this:http://tinyurl.com/4ndtjI'm pretty sure it is but want to be sureBrian
AHHHH!!!! I was looking at the illuminated ones! That's whyt the confusion! So...anyone know how you put the numbers on the buttons? Do they have caps you take off and put the numbers under or are people just glueing numbers to the top of them?brianhttp://thebrokenjoystick.com
Are the decals stuck to the top of the button or does the button have a cap which can be removed so the numbered decal can be placed inside the button top?
