Attaching Marquee Retainer and Monitor Bezel
« on: August 17, 2004, 05:50:06 pm »
How do you guys attach the marquee retainer and the monitor bezel?  With just screws?

What's the cleanest way to do it?  I am following the Ultimate Arcade II plans from http://www.mameroom.com where it suggests to just use screws.

Any other suggestions here would be much appreciated!

- Jeremy

P.S. I have the marquee retainer and bezel as ordered from Happ's.

Those plans have the television held in by gravity alone right? You might consider studs.

I don't know those plans exactly but at least make sure you don't see the screws on the monitor bezel. Screws exposed look like you did a rush job.

The marquee retainers are L-shaped so you can screw them on from the horizontal planes (top of the marquee and speaker shelf). The front will not show screws.

I couldn't see a Happs bezel (as in bezel around the monitor) on that tutorial of yours. Just some dark pieces of wood covered by plexi. And no, I'm not so "groovy" with screws through the plexi covering the monitor, but it sure is an easy way out. I guess that also explains why you didn't use multiple coats of primer (with sanding in between).

But anyway, jerschwab, the way to mount the marquee retainers has to be in that plan too. If they tell you to buy the happs stuff I would imagine they explain somewhere how to mount it. Did you read through the whole thing?
