I got lucky last night...
« on: August 16, 2004, 02:10:05 pm »
I went to the creepy old pinball/arcade store, and bought an "aero Fighters" cab for $50.  It's so funny to look at; it's so skinny!

It's in surprisingly good condition, but it hase no PSU, so I can't test it.

The marquee is just a thin printed mylar insert, with glass over it.

I opened up the marquee box, and look what I found!

Incandescent!

Very nice over/under coin door.  It has a key stuck in the coin return slot, and I can't get it out!

From the side:

It has a gameboard and a very nice Nintendo monitor (no burn!)

Now for the hard part:
What should I do with it?
MAME it?
Restore it?
Convert it?

Obviously I will try to get it working before I do anything else.
The guy told me it was originally a "toobin", so it's not an ultra rare unmameable game.

Overall, the cab is in  very nice condition.
A few light scratches on the side, cracked plex on the CP, but nothing too hard to fix.

Nice?

could you please take DETAILED measurements of the cab for me?  Ever since I saw a Toobin' cab a few months back I've wanted one.  Better yet, where do you live?  I'd probably buy it from you if you'd let it go.

As for what to do with it, I personally would mame it but with the whole Toobin' theme.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

It's in fridley.

Here is their website:
http://www.pinballwarehouse.com/

This was the only type of that cab they had.
It was also the best looking, best condition (of the junked cabs) that they had.
Looks like I beat you to it. ;D

I only got it yesterday, but I'll consider selling it.
If not, dimentions are coming soon.

I also have a "Mat Mania" that I fixed up if you're interested.

That is so, NOT a Toobin. This is what a Toobin' looks like.

Your cabinet is an Assault, Mame away, as it would cost you about $700 to restore an Assault, only to have it be worth 3-400 when you were done.

Oh I'm not interested in a cab, just a monitor for my Op Wolf. I see you got a cab + monitor for $50 so that is probably what I'm looking to spend on a monitor.

Cool.

do you have a power supply?  I'd test it to see if it works.

I saw one of those go at an auction for $300

I don't know, it looks like it has a giant pac-man burn in to me!  ;)

No, seriously, it looks like a decent cab for $50.  I'd MAME it.
