WTT: US Coin Mechs for CDN Coin Mechs
« on: August 16, 2004, 04:03:43 am »
Hello All!

I have two brand new US coin mechs ($.25) that I would like to trade for new CDN Coin Mechs, hopefully Happ's but I am open to suggestions!

If you have new ones, I will pay your shipping!

The mech's are the first ones shown here:

Dude, what you have to do is learn how to adjust the ones you already have.

Quoted from Happ's description:
"Available to suit any coin or token"

(Don't ask me how, i don't know, but there are tutorials out there).

I forget, is a Canadian quarter larger that an US quarter?

If it is, this link might help you "adjust" your mechs to accept Canadian quarters.

The only problem I have ever had with Canadian coins in US coin mechs is that a few of them have magnets to grab slugs. Just remove the magnet and they work fine.

THanks for the tips guys!  I guess I did come to the right forum for this problem... what I actually did was buy some Ultimate All In One coin mechs a few weeks ago. I was going to modify those to accept any coin... but I looked at the instructions and played around and eventually gave up.  I decided that I wanted the high quality brand-new Happ's coin mechs.  But if I can make an easy mod to the ones I have, even better!  I'll look at these very soon to see what I can do!

Just wondering what you do to remove the magnet?  It seems seated in there pretty good... drill it out from the back??

removing the magnet is easy.First if there is a clip remove the clip.Somtimes its spring loaded. If it comes in two halves remove each one at a time with a small screw driver. If is a large solid one the best way I have found is to place a pair of plier handles on either side of the magnet then turn the entire assemly over .Pliers on bottom and coin meck on top. Then in one swift motion slam the entire array onto a table and the magnet will pop right out.
IF IT HAS ,TIRES
