Any idea of manufacturer / Model
« on: August 15, 2004, 05:44:45 pm »
I was looking through my collection of arcade parts and found 2 new 8 way joys unfortunately I cant figure out who the manufactrer is. It has one identifying mark which looks like IMP (imperial). I couldn't find any refence to imperial making an 8 way joy on the Betson/Imperial page. Anyone have any ideas from the following pictures?

Anyone know if Imperial ever made a stick like this?

Thanks,

-Goz

Except for the actuator, looks like a Happs Comp to me...

It is a Comp, might have been given a different name, or came from a different manufacturer, but it is a comp.

Quick tidbit for those of you that don't know. Happ doesn't actually make any of their joysticks, they are mostly rebadged iL joysticks, and some come from other makers.

Betson/Imperial buys their joysticks from Industrias Lorenzo just like Happ Controls does. Both companies are distributors not manufacturers. For example, Betson/Imperial sells the "Super" joystick but they call it the "Superior"  but its the same stick. Usually Betson/Imperial will buy the sticks from Industrias Lorenzo minus the microswitches. Betson uses their own choice of microswitches rather then Cherry. If you ever see an Ultimate or Competition stick with microswitches that are a mustard yellow color then chances are the stick was bought through Betson/Imperial instead of Happ but whatever the case the joystick itself was *made* by Industrias Lorenzo.
Wico is a distributor too but they sell  joysticks and controls made by "Suzo" (one of Industrias Lorenzo's largest competitors)
Actually I shouldn't say that Betson/Imperial is *strictly* a distributor because they do manufacture some of the products they sell ie. trackballs and some of the billiard products ect.. but the majority of the products they sell are made by someone else.
