Act-Labs discontinuing racing products?
« on: August 13, 2004, 05:21:59 pm »
I visited the Act Labs website to see if they had any new clearance items, and noticed that all their FF race wheels, shifters and pedals are discontinued.  I own the wheel and the shifter, and think it is the best wheel available for PC.  Anyone know why they are doing it?

Simple economics would be my guess.

If they were selling enough of them, and turning enough profit, they wouldn't quit making them.

There is either:

1) Not enough demand at the price they can sell them for.
2) Not enough profit at that price.

They do make really good equipment, but I think the Logitech MOMO wheel really hurt them in the racing division.
It is not as good as their stuff, but is a whole lot cheaper.

Ya I really want to find their pedals and shift system.  Any idea where I can find some of their racing stuff?

I'd guess it has something to do with the number of new driving games coming out for the PC.

EBay would be a good place to start.  I don't know if they are available from another distributer or not (there was at one time).  Act-Labs will probably offer refurbished racing equipment, but new you may have to get off of Ebay.

It's true, there are not many good pc racing games past, present or future.  I'm a fan of The Need For Speed series, but other than that there aren't many.
