Someone had a pacman cab that was a bar top. It was larger than a regular bar top but it looked really nice. I cannot remember where I saw it. When I find it I will post>

wow bishmasterb !!!!!!! that pac-man bar top is what I was thinking on making for my uncle. I was going to do something like that for his retirement (one year away so I got a little time) Do you have measurements you'd like to share? I wanted to make it dedicated just to pac man so when he tuns it on all he has to do is insert credit and go....can you dish out more details on this machine of yours?

The PacMan cab is using the Jakks TV Games Pac Man PCB (which contains Pac Man, Galaxian, Rally X, Dig Dug, Bosconian).

Galaga is running with a Playstation and the Ms. Pac Cab has a PC running MAME32.

Are you the dude selling these things on eBay for $250 or so?

No, you're not.  Your mini cabs look a lot better.  8)

None of the above cabs is the on i saw. It was what I would call a large bar top. It had the same basic  design as bishmasterb's but had a bigger and had a true arcade monitor. The guy had a site with multiple pic's, i just cannot remember where it was.
Bihs's cab looks really nice though.

Maybe the MiniPac Mk III

Somehow it looks a bit skinny to me, but the sideview is just like a cutoff upright cab. Really nice.

I found it was a good test to improve (or rather start) my woodworking skills by first making a smaller test cab. I over shrunk it a bit (with a 12" mircrocab), but still I learnt a lot from it.

Yes, people tried and they were taken off since it's a copyright infringement to put the original artwork on them.

Yes, that's what I used (except I used the first edition from Jakks, the unit with PacMan instead of Ms. PacMan).

Unfortunately the hardware is extremely limited, no vertical display.

But, it boots up instantly, very easy to interface with (the solder points for controls are even labeled) and cost only $20.

The software isn't arcade-perfect, but it's pretty close.

Well, since you spend $20 on a near perfect.

Cant you get an epia fanless 800mhz or so for 100?  And run all your classics with mame?

I REALLY want to build one of these... but I don't have a bar top to put it on...  So I guess I should keep my standup...

but damn these things are cute.

Well, the benefits go way beyond the cost. For instance:

* It "boots up" instantly.
* It requires zero s/w configuration
* It doesn't confuse my 4 year old
* It never locks up; never blue screens; never gives any weird error messages

It's obviously not for all uses, but it works incredibly well for what it is.

** I still have two of these cabinets available (empty) if someone wants to add their own electronics. PM me. I'm near Sacramento, and would prefer not to have to go through the trouble of shipping it.

I'd like $150 each.

They are painted (one black, one yellow), the black one has t-molding, they have all the lexan (marquee, monitor and cpo), barrel lock for rear door (not installed), cp drilled for 3 devices (but could be re-drilled), stand-off feet, power cord, recessed power switch wired into power cord.

Does anyone know where I can find semi-detailed plans of the computer inside a bartop (or a site showing how to build your own "mini-computer")?  I've never really dealt with one outside the case and I'm concerned with the space limitations I will have when constructing one of these...  Thanks!

Bismasterb:  Awesome cabs, I bought both the PacMan and MsPac Jakks toys with the idea of hacking them for a purpose like this.  Do you have any pics of the insides of these things?  Any advice on how to open it safely?  How about power, using a DC converter?  Sorry to hit you with all these questions, just wondering before I start so I don't make a damaging mistake.....Thanks!

I may have been the guy on ebay you saw.  It was never pulled by ebay, but it didn't sell either.  Shipping was too expensive.  $100+ just to ship.  I hacked a Namco 5n1 and used a 13" TV.  I plan on adding some detail about the hack on my webpage this weekend.
