dual joystick CP for cocktail cab
« on: August 13, 2004, 02:29:44 pm »
i am building removable CP's for my cocktail cab at the moment. so far i have following CP's

4/8 way joystick with 6 buttons (2 of this CP's)
arkanoid spinner with 3 buttons (2 of this CP's)
3" trackball with 3 buttons (1 of this CP)

I have seen a few cabs with dual joystick controls, and now wondering if i should build one.

I assume these type of controls are for battlezone, robotron and crazy climber. I do not know of any other games that need such controls. Can anyone recommend other games?

I would go for dual 8way Jsticks, but how many buttons would be required?

thanks for your advice

i assume for 2 player versions of such games that an ipac4 is not required.

i figure with my ipac2 i would just wire up the second joystick to buttons 1-4. would this work?

is this what mame expects as standard? or would ini files need to edited to allow this?

that would still leave 4 button connections free per player as long as i dont implement any sysadmin buttons.

in addition to the joysticks how many fire/action buttons would be required per user for such games? is 3 enough/too many?
