Monitor Glass......clear or tinted???
« on: August 13, 2004, 01:58:35 pm »
What's everyone's opinion of Monitor Glass??

After searching the site, it seems that 1/4" plexiglass is the concensus, but what are the PROS and CONS or clear vs. tinted??  Are some games effected differently by tint??  (I want to play mostly Old School games.)

No games to my knowledge are affected by the tinting of the glass.  If you go with tinted glass you can always turn the brightness up to compensate (depending on how dark your tint is!).  I personally like the tinted glass better just as an asthetic opinion, but went with the clear 1/4" plexi as it was available and pretty cheap.

Are you asking about the glass covering the marquee or the monitor? I don't think marquees use tinted glass, but it might work. If you go to OSCAR Controls site there is a page illustrating the difference

My dedicated cab uses brown tinted.
It looks great and hides the burn very well.

I used grey tinted plexi and I couldn't be happier with it.  I'd definitely use tinted for future projects as well.
