Nintendo VS System, Dual Cocktail Style
« on: August 12, 2004, 02:51:24 pm »
Does anyone here have one of these?  It is the red cocktail style system, that you can change out chips or whatever to switch games.  The info at KLOV is minimal at best.  I have an opportunity to buy 2 of these, near mint condition, for what I believe is a reasonable price.  Does anyone here know where I can get comparison pricing/values for arcade systems?  Any help/info/links would be appreciated.  Thanks! I am not 100% sure, but I believe you have to switch out the game boards to switch games. I have a Vs. Hogan's alley, and it is a full board, but connects with 2 non Jamma connectors. As far as I have seen you can get the vs. games pretty cheap, so it could be a fun cab to switch out boards when you get bored with one.
Good luck, Patrick.

P.S. If you want the 100% working Hogan's alley Board, with the light gun, just let me know ;)

There are a couple of different Vs systems.  There's the dual and the single system.  Super Mario Brothers runs on the single system which was on a 2 person upright.  Vs Tennis ran on the dual monitor coctail.

I had a dual vs upright and the games were changed by changing the chips on the board.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't very clear.  These are two working Dual arcade cocktail systems.  One has Super Mario Bros on one side and Excitebike on the other side.  The other machine has RBI Baseball and Some Boxing, Ring King clone on it.  Both machines turn on and both monitors (2 ea.) are crisp and clear.  KLOV has a pic but I can't link from the computer I'm using right now, will link later.  I didn't get a chance to play then because they were boxed in, ready to be taken to auction in Sept.
The owner also is tossing in several conversion sets, some complete, some not.  The games are just not something he wants to "mess with" he says.  And I can get them for less than $400 the pair.  In your opinion is that a good price?  I think its a steal, but I'n new at this and don't really know.  So, what do you think?  Just looking for a little guidance as stated in the first post.  Thanks all!  ARCADIAC

The price seems fair espcially if they both work when you get them, but you need to ask yourself if you really think it's worth it. Are you looking to buy these because you really want one or are you looking to buy it to resell it and make some money. I could have gotten me a 20 vending machines a couple weeks ago for $200 which is a good deal but what am I doing to do with 20 vending machines other than set up a vending machine business. So I passed. I think those nintendo cocktails are kind of neat but I don't know if I would want one for $200. One might be able to buy them and flip them for a profit in the right situation however.

I've seen a few on eBay go for ~$300-$400 dollars complete and working.

I bought a gutted one several months back for $19.99, that someone had converted to video poker game, that I'm in the process of cleaning up and MAMEing.

There were a few of these at the last auction I went to, they went for $65 a piece. (Each had one side down, all were baseball, one HAD been fully up earlier that day).
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

It turns out that the upright Nintendo cab I bought earlier this week is also a VS system and has a RBI board inside connected with only 2 connectors.  pcates is that what you were speaking of, sliding the old board out of the box in the bottom of the back of the cab and simply plugging in the new one?  Pix follow, LMK if its same or similar.
Thanks! ARCADIAC

Board pulled out further, neat system/idea!  Cab is really only missing monitor and a couple buttons I think.

That is exactly what I was talking about.... Mine is the same, but it sound from other posts that the cocktail may be different. Either way the cab look pretty cool. I would offer the guy$250 for both and see if he bites.

I went ahead and bought these, I think I really will enjoy playing one, my kid is overjoyed about the Excitebike/Super Mario one.  So looks like my kitchen will be getting another arcade machine.  I'll send you guys some pix as soon as I get them cleaned and check out the insides.  I'm very curious how they managed to fit everything needed inside, seems like it would have to be a tight squeeze! Catch ya soon and Thanks as always for your help, Y'all are the best!
