I'm definitely a newbie when it comes to building your own cabinet ... infact, I thought I'd be happy with just a regular setup on my tv.  Therefore I bought a HotRodSE about a year ago and I've been regretting it ever since.

Don't get me wrong, hanaho makes a great product, but it's just not the same when you're sitting on the couch with the control panel on your lap.  I'd much rather be sitting on a bar stool at a cab!  So I've decided to build my own.  Ideally, I'd like something like the Ultimate Arcade II by Cybertech (despite MASSIVE resistance from the wife) ... however, she does point out the fact I'm LACKING in the woodworking skills - something I'm definitely willing to try though.

However, I'm definitely considering buying a 4 play control panel, or at least hoping to find someone locally to build one for me (as it pertains to wiring).  I live in Toronto, and have a great connect with an arcade control vendor (Starburst Coin Machines) ... my last boss is a consultant there ... so I'm sure I can get the joysticks, buttons, etc for a pretty decent price.  But really need help wiring it up to a panel through an IPAC4 + etc. (would like a trackball and spinner too).

I'd like something similar to the SlikStik Quad ... even the same dimensions wouldn't be bad as I hear it's compatible with the Ultimate Arcade II.

Anyone know of any alternatives to the SlikStik that will ship to Canada (without getting screwed on shipping costs?!?!)  Or even anyone that knows how to build/wire this panel?

You get someone to build the panel for you I will do the wiring. I don't have a garage anymore so I can't do any woodworking.
Curls in the squat rack !?!?!

She's just doing that to convince you to give up on the idea. It's not very supportive, is it?

RANT
Why are so many wives like this? Why the hell are men marrying women with no imagination or sense of fun? Sure they don't mind a big ugly china cabinet in the living room, showing off, what? Dishes? What's the point in showing off dishes?--instead of a fun game machine???

It's enough to make my brain twist into knots......

GAHHHH!  :o

OH by the way njchan, use the Search and search for "Canadian". There have beena few threads here where you'll find out there's about a dozen of us here from Canada, and even in Ontario.

2nd for Menace's work:

I haven't seen his cab in person, but based on the "BYOAC Marquee" he customized for the Starburst auction I while back.  I'm sure he'll design something amazing for you.   ;)

I went to Home Hardware and they offered to cut my plywood for nothing if it was all straight cuts. For angled or curved cuts they were only going to charge an extra $10. Try them and others like them, they may even cut out the holes for the controls, so don't be afraid to call a few places.

If you go this route all you have to do is assemble and paint it. With menace offering to wire it, you'll have your CP in no time.

Hey menace, nice jesture. That's why I love this place. ;)

ggkoul--you are too kind--although my mastery of the magic marker and scrap of cardboard are legendary :P  So when are coming over for some championship sprint action?--tell your wife you are buying parts... ;D

I'll have to get with njchan and sort details before i do anything--there are costs involved and a scope of work to be layed down before I would do anything (if I choose to do it that is)
