HELP.....for a newbie....
« on: August 10, 2004, 11:26:21 am »
After about a month of working on my new toy, I've got a few questions....

So far, I have purchased an old Pac Man cabinet.  I gutted it, sanded and painted it.  I picked up a used computer (P2/350/128 RAM) with a 21" flat screen monitor.  I also purchased a 3 pc speaker/sub set.

My plans are to buy a X-Arcade two-man controller and mount it to the cabinet.  Anyone have any input on this??  Any unforseen problems with doing this??

After that, I figure all that's left is programming the computer??  Anything I'm forgetting??  Any other components needed??

Thanks,

Edgedamage

If the control panel is still there you might want to save money and Build Your Own Arcade Controls. It would look much neater.

How would you mount the X-Arcade? I mean with the general shape of a PAC cab and the size / shape  of the X-Arcade, You'd probably have to make a large cut in the front to accomodate the X-Arcade (this could prove to be difficult).

If you head on over to oscarcontrols they have a couple of examples of customers who did just that. You will just have to research it a bit? Just an idea.

I think X-Arcade uses 8-way joysticks, which you wouldn't want to play Pac Man with. That would be one limitation to using the X-Arcade controller, unless you don't plan to play any 4-way games...

Forget X-Arcade man.....
(geez, those guys get too much advertising)

Build your own. That's what this website is all about, and it's terribly easy once you look into it.
