Video Amp, http://www.ultimarc.com/vidamp.html
« on: August 10, 2004, 10:40:06 am »
Two questions.

1) Why isnt' the video amp listed on the main page? You have to go thru the ordering section to even know it was there.

http://www.ultimarc.com/vidamp.html

2) It says that it has the exact video amp circuit as the J-PAC. Does that include where it splits the signal if it is more than 15KHz as well?

I asked Andy a while ago and it won't split the signal. I have a hunch if those things worked like the j-pac they would sell like hotcakes.

Well...crap.  That won't do.  I've got a cabinet all ready to go, except for this part.

I'd use a JPAC, but it's serious overkill for this project.  Galaxian cabinet: left, right, fire, P1 start and P2 start.  Running VAntAGE.

i'm interested to know why you using VAntAGE instead of early version of Mame (eg .36) is it better?

Or you could just hack a vga cable not all arcade monitors need the vid amp. And install arcadeOS and set it to acrade monitor. Could make a lean mean DOS system for that cab.

Why VAntAGE?  It's running on a 486!  It works, so why not?  Besides, VAntAGE is kinda close to my heart and all...

There are not (many) problems once it actually gets *into* 15KHz mode, but I don't want to blow the monitor waiting for that moment.  Oh, and it does need an amp, I've already tried the VGA cable hack.

rchadd: I sent you a PM.

If I can't get the signal split, perhaps I'll rig up a timer to turn on the monitor after a minute or so.  Maybe I'll also see how badly the monitor screams.
