No trackball in game, TV/display issues
« on: August 08, 2004, 04:23:57 pm »
Trackball works fine in windows XP, when I open up millipede with mamewah, it does nothing, joystick controls it all. Do I have to enable the trackball somewhere?

I have a 27" Toshiba 27a34 TV with S-video from a radeon (7200 I believe). I have to force it at 640*480 in order to see anything in windows (read text, I know, it's never gonna be easy) What resolutoin SHOULD I have it set at for games/mame?

The TV also looks a little warped, like speaker/magnet interference, but I've moved the cab, and the speakers and it doesn't change at all. As I said, I have it set at 640*480 at 60hz with max. flicker control in the advanced settings.

This is a pain in the ass. I thought building it and putting it all together would be the hard part :( Nevermind the mamewah issues I'm having over in the software message board, lol.

You need to enable mouse in the .ini file for each game using trackball.

Um, and I would do that how?
I know, I know, I can build a cab from scratch in a week with no experience, and build my own computers blindfolded, but with mame software I'm a friggin gimp.

Please forgive the stupid question but did you read the docs for Mame?  They are in a subdirectory called 'docs'.

Yes, unfortunately I did, and the only help I could find enabling a trackball was either in the mame.ini file, I could put the input device options - mouse to "1"
Thereby enabling it.

Or, I could create my own ctrlr.ini file, which looks a lot like learning an entire programming language just to enable a trackball.

The first method sounds logical to me, but everyone else says change the .ini file, and for the life of me, I can't find any /ini file beside mame.ini and the std, and joystick specific .ini files.

OK, so it WAS simply change the 0 to a 1 in mame.ini.

What a simple answer, yeesh. Now to figure out why I can't program my Ipac because it says it's not hooked up.
