Anything wrong with mounting speakers like this?
« on: August 07, 2004, 01:11:27 pm »
I done thunk it up all by myself.

Yes, I'm sure SOMEONE else has done this before me, but just want to make sure it's ok before I secure the panel to my cab permanently.

One thing you might give some thought to is future upgrades/repairs.
I would make sure you can get BACK into that area (if necessary in the future) without having to tear your cab apart.

You are going to be the best judge of whether it works, or not, though.

1) Do you get decent sound from them?
2) Is there any buzzing in the mount system at higher than normal volume, that needs to be taken care of before you mount the panel?
3) Is the sound STILL good after it's mounted?

If all this is OK, you should be good.

If I take the marquee off, I can get to the top screw EASILY, and remove it from there. The only other thing I have to do is setup a light shield so the marquee light doesn't leak.

As for sound, I'm building it and haven't turned my mame computer on in a month or so while I'm building the cab, heh.

That's about how I did mine. I have the same speakers and I used flexible copper metal stips, the kind that plumbers used to hold pipes up in basements and under homes. If it doesn't rattle or move, it's good to me...

Not at all as long as you like it. I decased my speakers and mounted them onto the cab with screws.

I decased mine and mounted them with screws as well.  I left one speaker up there with all the electronics in it tho.
